(122,074 posts)31. It is always heartbreaking to think of the animal lives lost. Years before the
Waldo Canyon fire, when I lived in another state, there was a fire in the plain directly behind my house. Again, the neighbors were organizing ourselves, including planning on how to get out the pets of the people at work, or otherwise gone. Local vets said their offices were open to us. Fortunately, it did not come to that. But we were ready.

So sorry! We've lived near fires & have been lucky but I have much sympathy for those whose luck ran out
