That election might have been the first time I fully understood the willful ignorance of "low-information" GOP voters. It seemed the country could never be the same after 2004. There was hope for progress on a number of issues if Gore had won, and it still seemed possible to undo 4 years of shrub if Kerry had won, but after 2004 it was too late. The economy, the courts, the environment, the sheer stupidity...
