It is funded by a separate withholding and deposited into a separate trust fund.

The Social Security Trust Fund currently has a surplus and has no effect on the federal debt.

I honestly can't tell if these Republicans actually believe their own bullshit or if they are just opportunistic liars.

The reason Republicans don't like Social Security is because employers have to pay a share.
