Billions and billions of sperm are ejected on their way to the egg. First one there dies because the lining hasn't eroded. Dozens more die and hasten the destruction of the lining. Quite commonly two or more make it to attempt fertilization. But usually that's too much information and the body NATURALLY ABORTS. Sometimes a second one cannot make it and gets reabsorbed and perhaps "fed "to these guys before they were ever born.
Others seem good enough to go but do not land where they should and are SPONTANEOUSLY ABORTED by the body.
(What I recall from spermatology and embryology)
Of course how frequent is this in humans? Why is this topic not widely discussed? Stress for the would be mother?
Anyway I befriended an Ultrasound technician and she estimated over 70% of the time for the above two cases.
