...but Trump was too intent on spending donor money on his legal fees instead of indoor venues, opting instead for less expensive fields and empty lots for his supporters.

An extremely under-covered part of the Trump 2024 experience is he does absolutely whatever he can to put rallies in places where he won't have to pay venue fees, because he still won't pay his arena bills to promoters for his rallies from 2016 and 2020. It's 103° in Las Vegas!
