and I like it. If some of us are coming to this conclusion as the only feasible way out for them, we have to know that it has occurred to them. I firmly believe trump had Epstein killed because he was going to testify against him. He had become a liability. This seems to be the way they think. And now trump is a liability. If the stress was going to take him out, it would have by now. His whole life has been a matter of living in chaos and uncertainty (will the banks still lend him money? Will the casino go belly-up?) and skating on the edge; he's too used to this to succumb to it naturally. His base will accept any authoritarian bigot they put on the ballot. I don't think they considered the possibility that the shooter would miss such a big target.
