of his body. The doctor advised abortion, especially since my friend had developed gestational diabetes, so it was risking her life to carry a baby to term that would require many surgeries and would likely not survive at all, and could never have a normal life.

My friend wanted the baby desperately, so decided to carry it to term in hopes of a miracle that didn't happen. She could have died and left her other young son motherless.

When the baby was born they learned he also had a hole in its heart, so they rushed it into surgery, and it died on the operating table. In hindsight the doctor was right; the baby only went through needless suffering of open heart surgery but could not survive.

You are so right that any woman who goes through a late-term abortion does so only because something catastrophic has occurred.

I am so sorry for the suffering you endured, having your baby die before it was born and necessitating an emergency procedurefor you. Thankfully you were able to get the care you needed, but so many women are now being denied that care and the courts are failing to protect them against overzealous legislators who don't know all the ramifications of banning abortion, or they just don't care.
