Issues should have been the exclusive focus of the campaign. The time spent bashing Trump for the 4,000th time probably accomplished next to nothing. Anyone who was going to turn on Trump turned on him years ago, but we were convinced that if we just told them them one more time, they'd magically change their minds.

Some still are.
