(7,986 posts)Say you've worked at the same Fed Job (or DoD for me) for 25 years. You've got not only skill learning to do the job, but all the institutional knowledge and historical knowledge that comes with that position. I know when I retired, I couldn't hurt the person who would be taking my position, no matter how much animus I had towards the idiots blowing off my disability. So, I spent all weekend... practically every hour on the weekend, even going without sleep, so that I could create a user manual of the position. It ended up being over 200 pages, just to explain how to do my job, what to expect from whom, and when they should have the info to you, etc. No one even said "thank you." But I left the damned job with a clear conscience. I can tell you if I was leaving under the circumstances right now, there's no way I'd have done a tenth of what I did for the next person. And there you have a big problem. Critical, complex positions with no training and no OJT to apprentice with. It's going to be so screwed up, and I hate to say it, but the fed workers who are fired have every right to just pick up their stuff and walk out. Period. Treating them like they are 5 years old is totally freaking insulting. "Name 5 things".... and now I read where they're going to use AI to go over all these notes. Ask me how much I trust AI! THIS should be a firing offense right there... being fired by a machine that has no history, no knowledge, and no expertise on your particular job. I am so p'o'd about this, and I'm not even working any longer! But I have so many friends and family who are caught in this web and are almost beside themselves with worry.
The man has no right to do this to any American worker, especially since he was neither born here, nor has he held a job here. It's just so frustrating and infuriating not to be able to strike back at him somehow.
