I am heavier into bonds that equities, and I lost 1% of my portfolio yesterday. Will probably be another 1% today. If Trump gets his wish and the fed lowers interest rates, then bondholders will also do better.

I am not a big fan of bond funds, and my portfolio manager has invested directly into bonds. You might get the loss against inflation if you hold to maturity, but you won't lose cash directly (that is unless the issuer declares bankruptcy). This crazy f_cker might force all US Treasury bondholders to take a haircut though - I wouldn't put it past him.
