Texas state Rep. James Talarico’s (D) Senate campaign said on Wednesday it raised over $6 million in its first three weeks, outraising former Rep. Colin Allred (D-Texas) in the state’s contested Democratic Senate primary.

According to Talarico’s campaign, their haul is the largest a Texas Senate candidate of any party has raised in their first quarter. The campaign said that 98 percent of contributions were $100 hundred or less.

“We’re underdogs in this fight against billionaire mega-donors and their puppet politicians, but more than one hundred thousand people have answered the call to build a new kind of politics,” Talarico said in a statement.

Talarico jumped into the multicandidate primary early last month.
