(10,473 posts)23. WRONG! The math is this. It takes a majority of the Full House signing a discharge petition
to force a full vote. The full House has 435 seats. There are currently 2 vacant, but they don't factor in to the discharge petition requirements. A majority for discharge petition purposes always requires a majority of the FULL HOUSE which is always 218 (1/2 x 435 + 1). Grijalva will be signature #218. There have been 215 House Republicans who have refused to sign the petition. There are 2 vacant seats. Even if both winners refused to sign the petition, that would make 217. The majority is GUARANTEED with Grijalva's signature.
