Those initiatives never lowered standards, at least at the business level.
Some accommodations were made in academics for the lower standards achieved at thousands of minority school due to systemic design or abject neglect.
But, that didn't happen in business. Companies are still primarily interested in making money. They don't lower standards of competence hoping they will still be as profitable. They assure profititability by maintaining standards.
