The good does not offset the bad in the real world. A right act here does not offset the bigotry or pollution there. The impact of the bigotry remains, the environmental destruction remains. Support for GLBT rights does not "offset" children blown to bits in Afghanistan/Pakistan/wherever. Am I happy to see our GLBT sisters and brothers finally beginning to get their rights? Of course. But the children are still dead.
