In reply to the discussion: Slut shaming of Miley Cyrus is sexism and racism in action [View all]rbixby
(1,140 posts)I don't see anything wrong with what she did from a moral, racial, gender, or any other view. Sure I thought it was in poor taste and really bizarre, but I just don't get the outrage about it. If anything, the whole ruffling of feathers it caused is helping her by raising her profile in the public eye, and that was probably the whole intention behind it. I think its ridiculous that something like that performance in this day and age raises any eyebrows.
I just wish that it didn't cause such a stir in general and that people could just take it at face value and realize that the whole thing is having its desired effect of taking someone who's been out of the spotlight and thrusting her back in there again, you better believe its going to do a lot to boost her album that's about to come out.
People really need to realize that its a publicity stunt, and not some sort of big statement about feminism or racism or anything beyond a scheme to generate buzz for her upcoming album.
