But there is one thing this test could help with: there is a persistent rumor in multiple branches of my mom's side of the family that a particular ancestor we have in common was part native American. Given where she lived and the time when she lived, I can see a possible link to the Cherokee or some other tribe in the Midwest. But the only photo of her in existence shows her with blue eyes.

So this would be interesting. And it would settle the question for once and for all.
