New Sirius XM station well worth a liberal listen [View all]
I seldom shill, but this is the opening week of Sirius XM's "Inspire" station. While I drive I often listen to progressive stations such as they are and I often find them as irritating in their one-sidedness (in other words only rah-rahing one side rather than trying to have a dialogue). This seems to be working toward a combination of actual discussion of issues, sometimes with guests and callers on the right and done without snark but with a desire to understand, some comedy, and some smart programming for us geeky folk.
John Fugelsang has a show, as does Neil De Grasse Tyson. I've heard guests theologian Susan Thistlethwaite, who strongly cautioned fundamentalists against doing damage to religious moderates with their inability to talk to anyone of different beliefs, and a marvelous Q&A from Tyson, who answer the geekiest sic-fi questions ever ("If a ship in space could produce a gravity field out in front of itself could it move by "falling" into that gravity?" with absolute respect and seriousness.
Today I listened to a "WTF?" discussion about Huckabee, Beyonce, the Obamas and Nugent with the information that they were going to have him on soon and will ask about all that.
I love that they talk to people. I learn every day.
So if you're so inclined, it's Sirius 121. I think it's going in a good direction.
