depending on who the oligarchs decide will be most useful and profitable to have in power for a little while.
President Obama put on a good show of "getting it" when he was running for office in 2008, which ushered in this very useful corporate Democratic presidency for the One Percent. No Republican would have been able to defend and expand the Bush agenda as effectively as Obama has, because the Democratic opposition, after eight years of Bush, would not have tolerated it.
But you can only ram through a Bait and Switch corporate agenda as a Democrat for so long before the people start to catch on to the con game and become very angry about the corruption and lies. It makes sense that the oligarchs have now decided that it's time for a change, and Republicans are being set up now as the party that "gets it."
Rest assured, once Republicans are back in power and continuing the corporate agenda despite having appeared to "get it" during the election, our corporate Democrats will suddenly appear to be the ones who "get it," and they will give a very convincing performance as the powerless but impassioned and principled opposition party for the people. And thus the populace will be reassured that we actually do have a democracy still, because Democrats will once again be saying the right things.
The corporate goal of stealth oligarchy is *always* to ensure that the corporate agenda continues. And they ensure its continuation by ensuring the continued division of the people into our Red and Blue teams, so that half the country will always be defending the corporate agenda, and we can never unite against what is being done to us.
