I think one of the reasons behaviorism and Taylorism replaced the first wave of psychology following Freud was that this study was getting too close to understanding the psychology of fascism. Then, again, psychology after WWII was moving in the same direction through the fifties through the seventies, and was then replaced by pharmaceutical psychiatry. Now, neurobiologists are making the same discoveries yet again. We'll see how it fares this time around...
