Dear Senator Cotton:
I am at a loss for words regarding the letter you drafted, signed your name to and sent to the leaders of Iran in an effort to undermine the authority of President Obama in his negotiations with that country concerning their nuclear weapons capabilities. What in the world were you thinking?
When dealing with a foreign power that we believe is developing nuclear weapons, we need to present a united front. If there is disagreement between the branches of government, it would be much better to resolve it in a way that does not give our adversaries a wedge that they can use to weaken our position. Again, I have to ask you, what in the world were you thinking.
I cannot believe that you thought it would be in the best interests of our country to openly disrespect the office of President of the United States in a matter of this magnitude. What I do believe is that you have allowed your ego and the pressure from ill-informed constituents to influence you into making an ill advised move that could possibly put our nation, and many others, at risk.
I sincerely hope that my fellow Arkansans see through your cheap shot tactics and that your time in the Senate is limited to one term. You have not shown the leadership skills or the responsibility that one would expect of someone who holds this office. Hopefully, the next six years will not afford you the opportunity to repeat an action as shameful as this one.
