When I read those words, I could not help but further consider where the citizenry fits in with this picture. Change Molly Ivin's word "politicians" to 'citizens' and reread the message. While it is true that We The People have been polarized-that being polarized is a TREMENDOUS problem to our democracy, shouldn't it be up to us to fix that problem? If not us then who?
