For example, in many hotels over the years, they've cut back on hourly employee hours and expect the salaried assistant manager to cover the hours cut..essentially for free. Therefore the company lowers their labor costs. With these rules the company would now have to bring the salaried manager's hours down to 40 and increase the hourly workers. Otherwise they'd pay a premium in overtime.

Although I imagine most businesses will just cut the manager's hours and hire a few extra part-timers to pick up the slack. But at least employers won't be able to cheat people out of OT.
