(1,587 posts)46. It may not be "the" flag of the Confederacy, but it is "a" flag.
As you show, there were many flags associated with the Confederate States, and that was but one.
I find them distasteful when used in a hateful way (unlike, say, at a museum when used as a historical display), but I will defend a private citizen's right to own them and fly them. Governments, though, not at all.
