6. Sadly, I think Obama has a lot to do with why people like Rubio and Cruz are running.

I maintain my opinion from years ago that Obama was way too inexperienced to run for president when he did and I think his first term reflects that. He got better as he went along but it took him awhile to find his footing.

Obama is obviously much smarter and more in touch with reality than Rubio and Cruz could ever hope to be. But now that he has become a successful two term president, it has set an unfortunate precedent that every political lightweight now thinks they're qualified to become president after only a few years in Washington. It's not just the GOP either. Look at all the suggestions that Julian Castro, with his incredibly thin resume, should be the next vice president of the United States. It's ridiculous.

I'm glad that Obama has been my president for the last six years. But it's time we start valuing experience in our presidential candidates again and not just optimistic rhetoric.
