It doesn't even reference corporal punishment. It simply says if you purposely injure a child, the child has been abused. Every state has standards of where the line is between corporal punishment and child abuse. I believe Delaware has the greatest restriction, but even there corporal punishment is technically legal so long as it doesn't cause pain.
