39. This place can get discouraging

There are those who do not think you can be a good 'progressive' and support any overseas military activity. And they get into contest burnishing their 'progressive' creds seeing who can trash the US the most.

Afghanistan was a just effort. They did indeed assist, support and empower those who caused 9-11. They refused to turn them over. Under International law that is a valid reason to declare war. Everyone supported the effort.

But because Bush went full right wing idiot and then talked the Nation into invading Iraq, anything he led is seen as deplorable. Had even 25% of the resources that went into Iraq gone into Afghanistan, it would probably entering a nice period right now. Things seemed to be on a upswing, with nations in the area supporting us. Even Iran was not causing problems. When Iraq happened it all went out the window.

And now I fear we will leave the Afghans right were they were 17 years ago.

Finally a legitimate reason to bomb still_one Sep 2016 #1
