I don't think Russia likes Trump. They just want to turn us against each other. Of course, Russia is playing with a lit piece of dynamite. These actions, though effective, were ultimately stupid.
It's in nobodies interest for the US to go up in flames. In the worst case scenario, nuclear weapons might be launched. In the best case scenario, everybody suffers.
Putin has forgotten that, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Even if only considering Russian interests, the potential blowback is extreme.
Does anyone want at worst another American civil war, or at best an extremely unstable world? Even Putin wouldn't. He just doesn't believe it can happen. His thinking is foolish and idealistic.
This isn't over. The blowback will be horrifying and intense. It will be an interesting 4 years.
