8. If it happens sooner rather than later, then this'll be better for the repubs

American people seem to have a very short term memory when it comes to politics. If pence gets sworn in sooner rather than later and is able to at least pull off a semblance of competency then the republicans might not fare all that poorly in 2018 or 2020. I believe they are intentionally keeping pence as clean as they can for that reason.

This might sound aweful, but I hope trump can either fizzle out very quickly and take pence and other top repubs with him, or hold on until after the 2018 elections and keep himself so busy with his current self inflicted crisises that he gets absolutely nothing done and sets the stage for a legitimate progressive groundswell.

I don't wish an economic crisis on our nation, but I've read many times in the last year that whoever the president is between 2016 and 2024 that an economic downturn is to be expected. I just hope it doesn't happen with a democrat as president. That could further stall what I believe to be a future (imminent) rogressive movement.

One can at least hope...
