I worked at airports for decades and have endless stories of compassion for animals.

Little Sheltie whose owners were military returning from Japan only to find their connecting carrier didn't take animals. We told them to go ahead and we'd take care of getting Api to them. We had to wait overnight, but we fed and exercised the doggie until we could send her on to her destination by other means to meet up with her family. At no charge to the family.

Having a hearing impaired woman show up with her cat in a carry-on, for which we were supposed to collect a pet charge. The woman wrote a note "But she's a hearing cat". I wrote back "You're right!" and waived charges. This was back when you had the freedom to make judgement calls.

The vast majority of people I worked with had nothing but compassion for animals. After all, they're much more wonderful to deal with than a lot of humans.

Unfortunately the actual number is probably only around 50 percent BannonsLiver Apr 2017 #1
