I couldn't help it. Just seemed like 2+2=4 there.

I could not help but suspect that the main reason for the ferocious hatred of President Obama was that there was a black guy in the Oval Office and he wasn't the janitor (and who the hell did he think he was?). I'm still rock-solid convinced that's true. All President Obama's election wound up doing was to rip the scab off a not-healed wound and let all the pus and toxins and noxious infections ooze out all over the place, unrestrained.

And here I was so hopeful that his election meant we had FINALLY grown up as a nation, turned the page, closed the chapter, gotten over it, and gotten beyond all the racial bullshit of America's past. To riff off that cliche - the past was prologue.
