A few things struck me. 84% of all Republicans are happy with Trump and would vote for him again.
My GAWD. That speaks of a major ideological divide. So why the fuck are we trying to win over these people? I don't know.
Minorities and women have over a 50% majority of power in the US, if only we would harness it. Racial and ethnic minorities and pro-choice women, along with environmentalists, the LGBTQ community (except the Log Cabin) the disabled and many veterans make up the party base. "Identity politics" as opposed to the Republican choice phrase "Special Interest Groups".
The clear pitch of the article is that if we could just get our base to vote, we would consistently win elections.
I am convinced that because the majority of Democratic Congresscritters are white males, and the majority of DNC leaders are white males, then there is some ridiculous notion that we need to win over more white males in order to win elections.
And doing that pisses off the base, and then we don't vote, or vote Third Party, and the Democrats lose.
I begin to understand why so many people were pissed in 2016.
If the DNC learns anything, perhaps they will learn not to piss off their base.
