He is able to pardon people for federal crimes, but not state crimes. So states could come at people who are pardoned.

There is very serious doubt he could pardon himself, although he could try to claim he did.

In the end, impeachment is a remedy.

And if not impeachment, then voting out the politicians who refused to impeach him.
