Dear Sinkingfeeling,
Thank you for sharing your concerns with me about Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. It's good to hear from you, as always.
I strongly oppose former President Obamas Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, which defers immigration action against illegal immigrants who claim to have entered the country as minors. I urge the Trump administration to work with legislators to end the failed policies encouraging young individuals to enter the United States illegally. We must reform our current system to secure our border and end this unsustainable course.
I therefore dont support Senator Lindsey Grahams (R-SC) Bar Removal of Individuals Who Dream and Grow our Economy Act (BRIDGE) Act of 2017, though I do share Senator Grahams concerns about fixing the immigration system. I am committed to an immigration policy that will protect our borders, stop illegal immigration, and maintain a strong legal immigration process that serves U.S. interests. However, our federal government is failing at a core constitutional duty: securing our borders and enforcing immigration laws. I will work during my time in the Senate to fix these failures. Should any relevant legislation come before the Senate regarding visas, permits, or an entry-exit system, you can be assured that I will keep your concerns in mind.
You can help me as I aim to represent Arkansansplease continue to keep me informed of your opinion. A well-functioning representative democracy relies on active, engaged citizens like you to inform and hold their elected leaders accountable. I always find input from my constituents on matters of public policy to be both insightful and useful as I work to represent your interests.
I am truly honored to serve as your Senatorplease know that your interests and affairs have my unceasing attention. Always feel free to call my office at (202) 224-2353 or visit www.cotton.senate.gov.
