13. When my elder daughter had her first week of school in the USA

She was 16, and asked me about the odd chanting ritual they did every morning.

I asked her what in the world she meant. It was a public school, and they weren't supposed to be doing anything religious, much less chanting like Buddhist monks. I asked he what they were chanting. She said they mostly just mumbled, and she couldn't make most of it out, but she said it sounded like it started with "I spread the peaches."
