Is Al Franken the price we pay for not being evil? [View all]

For me, after all the revelations, I think it's pretty clear that most of the accusers are telling the truth. This is my opinion, and I'm sure some people disagree. When it was just one right-winger that was part of a comedy sketch, there was justified reason for skepticism, but IMO now there isn't. And what he did was bad.

Of course, it doesn't compare to what Roy Moore did, or Trump for that matter. And neither Trump nor Roy Moore are going to resign.

But that's because the GOP are evil. They don't care about sexual assault. If it were up to the GOP, there would be no such thing as sexual harassment. To the GOP, women are decorations, not people.

Should Franken resign? It's not an open-and-shut case to me. The unfortunate thing is that in his political career, Franken has been a strong advocate for issues that affect women. So not having him in the senate would, arguably, lead to more incidents of sexual harassment and assault going unpunished. That's the "end justifies the means" argument.

Still, what he did was unacceptable, and it happens all too often, and this is a time where there is a chance to change that. It's not OK what he did simply because he's an otherwise good person. So in the end, as much as it pains me, I think, yes, he should resign. Yeah, it's a double standard, Republicans get to be evil because they are evil. That's just how it is.
