Wife, Son, Tom DeLay, Ex-CIA Chief Write Judge Praising Hastert [View all]

Source: Chicago Suntimes

Attorneys for disgraced former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Friday filed 41 letters in support of him, just days before he’s sentenced for trying to pay off a man he sexually abused.

Among the letters penned include ones written by Hastert’s wife, two of his sons, two of his brothers, former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, former Congressman and head of the Central Intelligence Agency Porter Goss, several other ex-congressmen and a few retired law enforcement officers, including retired Kendall County Sheriff Richard Randall and members of the U.S. Capitol Police force.

The letter writers call Hastert — a man portrayed by prosecutors as a serial child molester — as a great friend, great public servant and great American.

The first letter filed in support of Hastert is from his wife of 43 years, Jean Hastert. In the letter, Hastert’s wife says she’s never known a “more honorable and devoted man” who spent his life “in the service of others.”

You just can't make this shit up now can you...

Hastert Urged Life Sentences For Repeat Child Molesters

During nearly 30 years as a state and federal lawmaker, Dennis Hastert presented himself as a champion of children ...

In Congress, Hastert supported the Child Abuse Prevention and Enforcement Act of 2000, which among other measures, sought to prevent and punish the sexual abuse of minors.

“... it is equally important to stop those predators before they strike, to put repeat child molesters into jail for the rest of their lives ..."

Now, prosecutors say Hastert sexually abused five students decades ago when he was a high school teacher and wrestling coach at Yorkville High School.
