The NRA is important to Republicans because they send money-sometimes Russian money-to candidates and keep a portion of voters agitated. But now the NRA has financial issues. They’ve laid off employees and raided pension funds. The Russians can no longer contribute under the radar, at least not in the way they did in 2016.

The positions taken by the NRA are so extreme that they’re nutty. Polls show public opinion, even among NRA members, is strongly against them.

Why, why, why are the Republicans still Velcro-ed to them? I guess I should be happy about it?
