The season actually starts even earlier. I was trying to share with people what Mardi Gras is—a rolling celebration lasting about a month, with a hard stop on February 25th at midnight.

It’s all over, we clear the streets, we hose down the sidewalks, and run off the drunken stragglers with cops on horseback.

We know how to party responsibly in New Orleans—if there is such a thing—and earlier DU posts denigrating the Democratic leadership of the city and state were based on misconceptions of how Mardi Gras works.

Let’s not make the same mistake again, DU. 😅
