(8,668 posts)The timing of this announcement seems suspicious to me. I saw how fast the Roger Stone machine took down Al Franken. No one asked about the context or Due Process. The internet spews 10,000 lies for every truth I am told. While the math may be suspect the real effect is just as devastating.
I will believe it when there is sworn testimony and evidence pursuant to filing charges.
I say this having seen how the system treats those who fight to be heard about abuse of many kinds. I say this having sat in court in front of a federal judge and heard him and the prosecution distort and misrepresent evidence that I knew by heart because it was my life story they were mangling.
I believe she should be heard in full, as well as anyone who will stand witness to the events. I believe he has a right to be heard also.
I also believe we live in a 2020 world that seems to have more versions of alleged truth than there are stars.
I also know that when the media presents truth as it appears among the powerful, and truth among we ordinary people, it can be hard to see the real behind the hype, and context is often shredded in pursuit of a juicy headline or winning the next 5 minute news cycle.
