i was in school back in taiwan, we were also drilled into our head that mainland china is part of Republic of China and one day we would go and reclaim the mainland.

now the truth is. CCP can easily give up Taiwan as they did with Mongolia, which used to be an 'unbreakable' part of China, and that was definitely part of China with longer history.
