A person who receives their first DUI will have driven, on average, at least 80 times drunk before they're caught. It's very rare that someone gets behind the wheel once drunk and just happens to get caught.

I will also admit to having driven drunk many times when I was young and dumb and I never once got a DUI. I am very fortunate that I didn't get one - or worse, get in an accident. But absolutely, most people who get DUIs have driven multiple times drunk previously and just haven't been caught.
