(3,338 posts)He may have an elevated IQ but, he is quickly succumbing to the same malady that seems to befall endlessly fortunate people like him. He's proving that he really isn't that smart. He's beginning to actually believe that he's destined to rule the world. Like many with success before him he believes that is his purpose here. He can't just enjoy his good fortune as an opportunist. He has to up the ante and become the latest pied piper for idiots that just want to break stuff.
People like him want for nothing. Saving up for that bigger new TV for an upcoming football season means nothing. He probably bought 10 last week. So people like him buy people. Whether it be by bribing politicians and bureaucrats or by imposing oneself as the new leader of a movement that will benefit no one. Except that one person. They are willing to dismantle society for their whims. We've seen another wannabe despot recently and the walls seem to be closing in on that bastard (hopefully, asap) and some people still refuse to see them as selfish manipulators they really are.
It reminds me of the ending of the movie Patton where at the end of the movie as Patton (George C. Scott) is walking away with his dog he narrates "For over a thousand years, Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of a triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeters and musicians and strange animals from the conquered territories, together with carts lade with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children, robed in white, stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: That all glory is fleeting."
