I had to tell him to do his best on his computer test tomorrow and not to worry or be upset if he doesn't do very well. Do you know why I have to tell him this? He doesn't have any educational assistants in any of his general education classrooms. PE, Science, Computer or Math. His math class is manageable because they have changed the curriculum to meet him where he is in math comprehension. They have had to go back and teach him things that he didn't really learn in the math class in middle school that followed Common Core. In the other classes he is expected to perform exactly like his general education peers with no help. I cannot begin to describe how angry I am at our education policy. Our education policy fails any student who struggles. Sure, if students can pick things up quickly and understand things with no problem that's great. I'm sure they can follow Common Core just fine. My daughter did just fine with Common Core. But not all students just fly through school. Many struggle and Common Core only makes them struggle even more.
