We also encounter problems in our systems. I don't think you will find anywhere on earth a perfect system that will fit everyone. Yes here each vote count as one voice but differencies are in what we call "scrutin proportionnel" (proportional representation) and "scrutin majoritaire" (majoritarian representation). The two systems are worthy but have also issues. Depending of the country, one will fit better than the other but it will never satisfy the entire population. What democracy will do is to pick the one that hurt the less people possible.

Your actual system as was ours in the past (censitary vote), was probably the best choice the founding fathers have done in their time, regarding your country and history.

But now, it looks a bit outground. I guess that will not easy to step forward and get some system that befits the actual era. Even it is not a full guaranty, it will, to a certain point, probably prevent from having a totally incompetent person at the head of the country. Especially when this person has a strong power as it is in the US. It is not the same everywere. In some countries, the presidential fonction is rather a honorary position than a real power position (Germany or Italy for example).

Glad you have a so strong Constitution that will, at least, avoid you the worse. And glad, you had and still had people that sherish and preserves her, keeping her strong and the last barrier to save democraty.

A last point : I doubt Trump have ever read anything about laws in general ou have any clue about how its works. As lawyer, I'm absolutely speechless by his profound ignorance
