His father, Don, was very influential in FL state politics for decades. He got little Mattie off 16 DUIs with everyone from the FL State Highway Patrol to Escambia and Santa Rosa County sheriffs and Pensacola PD. The mug shot that you often see of Baby Gaetz (That's what we called him when we lived there.) came about when a FL State Trooper, who didn't know him or his father actually arrested him after his BAL was way over the line and took him to jail. Daddy got him off and sadly, the Trooper was fired for DOING HIS JOB and keeping DRUNKS off our FL highways. Don't know what happened to that poor man.
