I remembered it today when someone mentioned Dan Quayle. The original joke was a guy waking up from a coma to find that Daddy Bush had died and Quayle had become President and the punchline was about our currency being the Yen.
Oh, for simpler times when we were worried about the Japanese buying America and Quayle being too stupid to run the country.
