The various software and system vendors are usually the first ones contacted for routine attacks. There are specialized sites and communities that provide help and support for people who have been hacked, including tools to clean up and repair systems. The antivirus vendors also provide resources to identify and respond to many attacks.

For those of us in the industry, there are other highly technical sites for serious attacks. Ultimately, these responses escalate up to CERT.

THere are also corners of the web where the white hat hackers are hard to tell from the black hat ones. Be careful. Sometimes the "fixes" found online are really more malware.
