My father taught me. Actually it wasn't from a box, but maybe worse -- we made the sauce with milk, butter, and Velveeta.
Yeah, I know, not real cheese, but oh so many emulsifiers for that rich, creamy mouth feel
Since then I've evolved to use Annie's whole wheat white cheddar and I use olive oil instead of butter.
Mildly less sinful....
