In reply to the discussion: Turn down that music!! It can't be just because I'm old... [View all]NurseJackie

I feel your pain, sorry you had to go through that, but glad that it's over.
In our parts, people get a free warning... then fines for repeat occurrences (on the same day). Next month's party will be a free warning, then fines.... and so on.
But, 2nd offenses will get a $500 citation... so that's good incentive to STFU.
Unfortunately (fortunately) 911 won't handle noise complaint calls... so it goes to the non-emergency dispatch (which, today, meant a 10 minute hold). --- I totally get it. It's NOT an emergency, so I won't complain about that.
But, I'm grateful that they DO respond (eventually) and they do have the weight of the law with county ordinances that aren't limited to night-time hours only.

Oddly enough... I kinda know who these people are... they're younger but old enough to know better.

That's a good "strategy". Give neighbors a heads-up warning... OR INVITE THEM.

Yikes! You're giving me visions of the "bad neighbors" youtube videos I've seen.

It was a gang of burglars who had already hit several houses in the neighborhood

When I lived in Manhattan, I had a next door neighbor who was a singer. Every night at 7:00....
