The iodine could be the problem - all he seems to want to eat is tuna and salmon even when we try to mix it up with other foods.

Me too ... but I grew up around 'em ... Siamese cats 'talking' is the sound of 'home' :)

If your cat is eating a lot and losing weight, check the thyroid. Common problem among older cats.
